Defining Captivation

           At times when you cannot close your eyes and your mind refuses to think of anything else, you know that you have been trapped. Caught by someone or something, which holds your interest so strongly you cannot bear to turn your thoughts away. It is those moments when you know that the subject that holds your attention has charmed its way into your mind. You are captivated. Held by a spell created of wonder and delight, your mind has become intensely interested. Captivation is a quality that can be held of awe or of terror. It can sometimes be dangerous if someone turns his or her captivation into an obsession. Things that hold your attention for longer than five minutes, these days, could be considered captivating. Often times a man or woman’s appearance, if it is thought to be extremely attractive can fall under the category of captivating. What we see in present times on TV and in books and magazines is meant to keep your attention by captivating your thoughts, eyes, and ears. Captivation is cause by so many thins of all types, but its up to you to chose which things are to your taste and fulfill all the desires and expectations you hold of this life.

He seeps into your mind through your eyes and ears

Enthralling your mind and enslaving your heart

Calling to you in your deepest of dreams

Made of terror or beauty completed by fascination

He weaves a spell of bewitchment and hunger

Leaving you craving to be filled

Without a promise to be

Sometimes the predator clothed as an innocent

Sometimes the innocent meaning no harm

His form is forever changing and no two eyes can see him the same

Never clear with his intentions,

He fills you with truths warped by whispers he tells your mind

You find yourself trapped in a windowless room

Paintings of your fascination high as a ceiling

Beguiled by him into odd thinking

Your heart blackens with obsession

Colors begin to dull,

As tastes turn to hardly filling nothingness

Captivation is as known and controversial as you will ever find.
